Our church Negotiating Team and the Presbytery Response Team have come to an agreement for a church property settlement of $58,500. There will be a special meeting of the congregation on January 15th, 2012, at 10:15am to approve the settlement. This will clear the way for our dismissal with our property from the Presbyterian Church (USA) to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
We will need to pay the presbytery the $58,500 in full at the January 28th, 2012 presbytery meeting in order to clear our deed. To this end the session is asking our members to contribute toward our Solid Ground Campaign. Ideally, we will raise the full amount of these funds by that date in order to finalize this phase of the dismissal. You can contribute to the Solid Ground Campaign by indicating this on your check’s memo line, or by indicating this on your giving envelope.
We are overjoyed to be able to climb out of the quicksand of denominational uncertainty and to be established in a context where the clear foundation of God’s Word is valued and upheld. We echo David’s words in Psalm 40:2-3, “2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. 3 He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be astounded. They will put their trust in the LORD.”
We are convinced that God has blessed and will bless this step of obedience on our part to be faithful to his holy Word. We look forward to continuing to see his work and being astounded.
